DIRECTOR JERRY VASILATOS SET TO DIRECT
"SHELTER ME", A DRAMATIC SUSPENSE THRILLER
WRITTEN BY SARA COOVER CALDWELL
(HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA...) Award-winning film director Jerry Vasilatos has partnered with award-winning screenwriter Sara Coover Caldwell, to produce and direct the dramatic suspense thriller "SHELTER ME". "SHELTER ME" is the story of JEANIE CARPENTER, a young woman who seeks refuge in a Washington D.C. shelter, where she becomes involved in an unfolding murder investigation in which her social worker SAM FOX, is wrongly implicated. Eventually the crimes threaten not only herself, but the life of a young child she has befriended. "SHELTER ME" shares similar thematic roots with the Castle Rock release "THE SPITFIRE GRILL" and follows the current trend geared towards strong, character driven drama.
Vasilatos optioned the property "SHELTER ME" and quickly took it to market. "Everyone who's read this script has loved it... I knew it was only a matter of time until I found the right people to team up with in getting this to the screen" Vasilatos says. "Once talent is in place, we're ready to go".
Vasilatos is the writer/producer/director of the Christmas film "SOLSTICE", which was broadcast on Lifetime Television during the 1994 and 1995 holiday seasons and also garnered awards in the Charleston and Houston International Film Festivals. For "SHELTER ME", Vasilatos will reunite many of the team members he assembled for "SOLSTICE", including Director of Photography John O'Shaugnessy.
Caldwell, who also recently moved west, is repped by the Quillco Agency of Los Angeles. One of her other screenplays, "BLOODY WILLIAMSON" won first prize in the Chicago/Illinois Screenwriting Competition.
